Martyn Gibson: Owner
Marty started working for the bicycle shop under its previous owner, Bob Meyers, after his release from the U.S. Army. Marty has an extensive history with cycling in North Carolina. He was an integral member of the Upper Cape Fear Cyclists and has helped support the cycling clubs of Fayetteville throughout the years. He has ridden and finished the Assault on Mount Mitchell twice on a bike most wouldn't think could make the distance. He purchased the business in 1993 and has since taken the shop from the "little hole in the wall" to the establishment it is today.
He admittedly doesn't ride as much as he used to, but you may still catch him rolling through the back roads of Eastover from time to time.
Dennis Ferguson: Manager. Dennis and his wife, Joyce have joined our staff after many years of owning and operating their own bicycle shop in Ohio. Dennis (Ferg) also has an extensive industrial maintenance background and has completed training schools with Shimano, SRAM, Mavic, Campagnolo, Hayes, Rock Shox. He has been accused of being too particular when it comes to his repair and maintenance practices. So rest assured your bike is in good hands at The Bicycle Shop. Ferg has ridden road bikes since 1982, having raced criteriums and time trials. He has many years of mountain biking experience as well.
Joyce Ferguson: Sales. Joyce brings with her a history of working in the bicycle business since 1990. She has seen many changes over the years and is still as excited about seeing customers walk out the door with a new bicycle as when she owned a little shop by the railroad track in Wapakoneta, OH. As Joyce says, "Bicycles and riding should be fun, it is a great way to see things you will never see from a car, along with fresh air, stress-relief, and excercise." She has performed repairs on all brands and types of bicycles since 1990 as well, also having completed training and continuing education classes from all major component manufacturers. Her college education was as a veterinary technician, and she and Dennis have 2 dogs, Kermit and Louie. She has ridden bicycles since her college days, then as necessity, and ever since for competition and fun.
Chris Hickman: Sales
Chris came to the shop with prior bicycle sales experience and many years of riding. His racing started at 10 years of age with BMX. He also has raced Expert Mountain Bike as an adult. He created the shop’s BMX team and continues to recruit new talent for the team. Chris also spent time in the U.S. Army and is a Gulf War veteran. He has been cycle commuting in Fayetteville for over a decade. Chris is a lifetime member of the KISS Army.
